Re: Re: Lol, Goldiec, It's our fault. We told them to help themselves.

For whatever reason, our tomatoes have taken off this year. We have a cherry tomato plant and a hybrid that is going crazy. I'd rather see them eaten rather than wasted.

Where I live, mice coming in is a regular thing. I have guillotine traps placed here and there, and what the traps don't catch, my Elie does the 'cat' thing and nabs them, although she is a dog. Not afraid of them, but not willing to share my space with them either. So far no problems with the tomato plants, except for the chippies and squirrels getting into the garden and chewing on the zucchini plants.Have you found a solution for the cutworms?

Kabu, at times like this I wish we did have a cat.

Re:

C_C_T, Roy has been spraying our tomatoes.  The neighbor looked it up and it's a cutworm.  I don't like it and I hope we can get the problem under control.

Re:

FSI, we live near the city but it's really kind of country out here and we usually get one a year.  I don't like them at all.

Re:

Taps, it's amazing all the places a mouse can get into without anyone having any knowledge of it.  Then we get a surprise that we weren't expecting and people like me get very upset.

well I am not scared of mice I just don't want one in the house. You need Mr Graysome. He stays on the job until the mouse gives up and goes outside or he has killed it.

Sometimes I see a tomato has been bitten. I give the plant a sharp tap and look for

the caterpillar it usually falls down it is rather hard to see if it is the same as yours

itis green well camouflaged and a real job to see. Sometimes there are more than one .

I'm not a fan of mice either. I've never had any in my house. When I lived at my parents house, we had a couple of them over the 20 years I lived there. No thank you.

Once while in Ouray, Colorado getting ready for our over-the-mountains four wheeling, we stopped in a little grocery store to pick up a few items, one of which was a big bag of chips.  While carrying things out to the van I heard a loud scratching and started hunting through what we had picked up.  I found him (mouse) inside the bag of chips we had just bought.  He had made a hole in the bottom of the bag and crawled in.  We never went to that store again.  LOL

Re: Good morning

Sassy, Roy uses Miracle Grow too so I'm not sure what is going on.  I can't believe your neighbor would take your tomatoes.  That is simply not right!

Re: I had very good luck at catching a mouse with a trap called

Pat, I love your limerick!  Thanks for the smile this morning.  I'm going to look for some mint spray of some kind.  I'm willing to try anything.  I hope you have a good day!

Good morning

We had that issue with our tomatoes last year. This year, ever since we applied Miracle Grow to our veggies, they have been holding out strong and unaffected by the bugs this year. My only issue is that our neighbors seem to need my tomatoes more than we do.

I had very good luck at catching a mouse with a trap called

the TomCat. Also, I understand they hate the scent of mint, and there are minty pest sprays that repel but do not kill certain rodents. Sprayed around doors or other access points might help - couldn't hurt.  This reminds me of a silly limerick:

A diner, while dining at Crewe
found quite a large mouse in his stew.
Said the waiter "Don't shout
and wave it about
or the rest will be wanting one too."
