Re:

Kabu, I just cut my strawberries after I wash them and put some sugar on them, and put them in the fridge.  I've never boiled them.  That's very interesting to me.

Re:

FSI, the cooler temperatures have kept my electric bill down but next week it's going to be in the 90s.

Re: Good morning

Sassy, I think everyone will love hamburgers on Father's Day.  I think they are so good on the grill.  I thought Roy and I were the only ones to eat a lot of onions each week but it sounds like you and John are just like us.  It was very nice here today with cooler temperatures.  I hope you have a wonderful celebration with John's Mom!

I do love strawbwerries but i usually wash them and cut them into pieces. Add some sugar and boil them for about a minute with a bit of water added. They are delicious with ice cream /cream/ in a pie but thicken them a bit while still hot.

I have a mixed liking for strawberries. My stepfather asked me to pick his fruit one summer.

I have planted some spring onions that grow quite large. The shallots I planted have rooted but show no sign of green shoots, I think they may have been heat-treated because they came from a sack that Archie buys to make pickles.

The cooler weather has been nice on the old wallet, especially with prices going crazy.

Good morning

We go through a 5lb bag of onions every week. We love them in everything. Freezing foods is smart and economical. I do it too. I have found that you can freeze just about anything so long as the proper prep work is done first. Our gas prices escalated too. I have noticed that food prices are through the roof as well. Buying hamburger in bulk is smart. I separate the meat once home into freezer bags, making our weekly grocery expenses much lower. John plans to grill hamburgers for Father's Day, so I had better buy some ground beef before it is the price of steaks. It's a beautiful day here. I am crossing my fingers that it doesn't rain tomorrow. We are celebrating John's mothers 80th birthday. We are doing it two weeks early so that she doesn't have a clue about the surprise party.

Pat, I've never used the French fried onions in a can but I'm going to have to get some and try them.

I like onions, too. The French fried ones in a can can add a nice

crispy accent to an ordinary serving of mac and cheese.
