We had a stove with a metal sieve-like cone which glowed bright red. One had to be careful condensation sometimes created water which blocked the supply pipe.

Yes, we had an Aladin lamp. It gave a warmth which was missed when the electric light came in.

I had not read the paraffin story in such detail before this. I had

thought it was used to make light the same way a kerosene lantern was used. It didn't occur to me it was to create warmth in a home. Very interesting.
