Re:

Kabu, they are just finishing up.  I'm so thankful the storm hasn't arrived.  They have a few little things to do but not much.  It's such a relief to know this project is just about over.

Re:

C_C_T, I'm not familiar with what a thatched roof is.  Do the buildings hold up well being made of stone?  Is there a lot of upkeep?

Re: Good morning

Sassy, I hope this roof lasts for a very long time!

Praying for the finish to happen to the roof before the bad weather hits your area. A roof seems to be something one doesn't think about much unless gutters clog up or the roof needs replacing.

Some folk here still have thatched roofs of course the walls etc are stone as they are old buildings. I don't know how long a straw roof lasts probably fifty years I suppose it was supposed to see out the owners.

Good morning

It will be worth it in the end. A new roof installed properly can outlive the homeowners.

Re:

FSI, I seriously never thought about it up until now but I believe you are right.  When I started looking around I was surprised by what I saw.

Re:

adnohr, home renovations can be so expensive but they are worth it.  In the past couple of years we had the electricity upgraded inside and out and the garages and a new water heater and last but not least the new roof.  I do want to get a new boiler but there's just no way I can do that this year.  I'm hoping for next year.  I hope you have a good day!

My theory as to why there are so many roofs in disrepair is because people let them go until the leaks start coming in.

Pat, I do feel fortunate to be getting a new roof.  I'm really please with the company that we picked.

Fantastic! Owning a home means renovations, and roof is one of the most important. Like you, I am hoping they get it done before the weather turns bad but, being professionals, I expect they are keeping an eye on it too.

It seems this crew is

well experienced.  The secure feeling of having a good roof may well make up for the noise and inconvenience.  Have a good day.
