I can see your mind has followed a whole lot of plot threads - real soap-opera style. I was thinking about having it turn out he was really a rat, one of the gang that hung out behind the Sunshine Cafe, but no mere rat could have fooled a girl squirrel - or could he?

Good Morning
Pat, I was so excited to see the Backyard Squirrels are at it again. Peaches & Herb could make their own soap opera. I can see it all now! There would be new partners, family squabbles, neighborhood involvement, and friends taking sides. It's everything a good drama needs to survive. Peaches would find the squirrel of her dreams and suddenly Herb would want her back. He'd cry and beg and say he'd loved her from the beginning of time but Peaches would ignore all of his pleas. Finally, Herb would find someone new but she would see him for the scoundrel that he is and take off for parts unknown. Herb would be alone again and go from place to place to tell them how he'd been wronged. When Peaches would hear about the nonsense Herb was spewing all over town she would tell her side of the story and Herb would be left out in the cold again.

If only it all came to me so easily, Taps. Those ideas take a meandering path and have to climb some steep grades to get to the point where they tie together in any coherent way. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Good morning
I love the Peaches and Herb reference. Digging in dumpsters is a hard way to survive, but a squirrel's got to do what a squirrel's got to do in order to survive. The bodies of rats and squirrels are quite similar once that fluffy tail has been skimmed down to nothing.
