Interesting.  Not sure what I think of it at the moment.

I would like to see single parents with very young kids get a livable

income as backup so the kids don't have to be told "we can't afford that" or have less to eat than they need, but for anyone who's able a job brings more to their lives than just a tired back and a paycheck - it brings purpose. I agree with what you wrote in this post. The UBI of a pension at the end of one's worklife may be a whole 'nother thing.

Re: Re: adnohr,

Something that came up on FBook the other day:

Tradition is peer pressure from dead people.

Re: adnohr,

All of this is entirely possible. It's just getting past the Puritan idea of work or starve.

Re: Kabu,

That makes good sense to me, too.

Re: sassyass,

That's what this is about: It may seem unlikely, but humans do not, in fact, lose purpose. They lose desperation as a purpose. This has been the result where it's been tried.

In fact, you can enjoy your hobbies and your hard work, earning the things you want. That's the whole point: Everyone should work for the satisfaction and joy of it! And the amount of the UBI still encourages people to work for the things they want above just surviving.

Re: CCT,

In the US we have quite astonishing wealth, we only have to get corporations and the ultra-ultra rich to pay taxes--maybe by way of expressing appreciation for a country and its systems that allowed them to get so much money in their pockets.

That's where the money would come from. Or maybe we could invest a little less in an excessive military budget.

I do believe in it. People apply themselves and thrive when they are working at something they love rather than just to exist. Maybe take the mega millions from those who use money like a weapon and distribute it that way - use it for the good of all mankind.

Iam a fence sitter on this one. Jim agrees with you I know but I can see merit in what you write but then I can see where it fails. The Super Rich getting this is one thought that sickens me. I would love to see this happen but I would like a cut off point where you no longer recieve a benefit you don't need.

Good afternoon

I am not a fan of this type of income. With this sort of thing, humans would quickly lose purpose. I enjoy having hobbies and I feel good about working hard for a paycheck and earning the things that I have.
