Good for you to be typing easier again and I'm sure it will be great fun to see the house come together how you two want it.

As my fingers and my mind reconnect, the speed comes back. When I sit down to write a story, I have always told people that I am conscious of what I am doing for maybe two or three minutes, and then my *fingers* take over. When I 'wake up,' I am always mystified about how it all happened.

You are right. My most creative pass is the first one. Words and phrases flow like water in the Tahquamenon River toward the falls and then into Lake Superior - fast and with purpose. Everything slows to molasses in January when it comes to editing time. I have to look at words and phrases to ensure they are appropriate, and will people take it the way I meant it?

Re: Annicita

Thank you! We are both anxious and excited to keep going on repairs. I'm supposed to get a check in to my bank tomorrow that we will use to buy some more materials. Writing has always been a thrill, and falling back into the habit again has been a big help.

It's not how fast you type - it's how well you remember the words that

fire at lightning speed through your mind. After it's all on the page, then the slow edit makes it look to the reader like it all just fell naturally from heaven...

I love the feeling of a work in progress and even more so when I finish that first draft. Same thing goes when I am doing a small or large renovation. Good luck to both of you in completing that before the heat sets in during the summer.
