Well, Big V, I am genuinely sorry that you endured beatings yourself. I can imagine it was hard to overcome that inborn fear. I cannot ever remember my father hitting me, although he used words that made me feel guilty.
When we as kids quarrelled at lunchtime, he would grab a stick and say the first one
to start will get a cane, but he never used it.
I once asked my mother what she would do if a man hit her. She said I would get tHe biggest stick I could find and bash him one, neither of them came from homes that were violent. Thank you for this story, I appreciate that it is not always easy.
