Re:

Sea Gypsy, I would love to have you for dinner.  I think you would have loved the chili. Your Covid cases are really high too!

Re:

Kabu, the chili really was perfect on a freezing cold day!

Re:

C_C_T, gas prices are going up everywhere.  It's so cold here that I wish it would warm up a little.

We are used to the cold up here, so most people stock up on wood during the summer. But yes - fireplace, chili and a good book sounds like the ideal way to pass the day.

Wish I was at your house for dinner! hahaha. Yes, here we have in L.A. Country 40 - 45,000 cases a day of Covid. A day! And yes, unvaccinated are getting it the worst as a rule. Hope it warms up a little there and maybe that's why there aren't a lot of people out where you live right now.

A cold Winter day and hot spicy Chili; a perfect combination I believe.

Well we have yet to experience really cold weather. It was different several years ago

I cannot say that I prefer it cold. We have gas central heating prices are rocketing

but when a portion of log is 50p it makes one wonder what is cheap.

Re:

FSI, I've wondered about that myself.  We get what we need and that's it but others buy all they can.  I think that's why our grocery store put a limit on what people can buy.  Last week sliced frozen strawberries were on sale and they were sold out everywhere.  I would have been happy with one package of strawberries.

Re: It's a marshmallow world here, too - but so far it's right at freezing,

Pat, I'm glad you are planning to stay home during the storm.  There is no sense taking a chance in the snow.  It gets so slippery.  As far as COVID I'm glad you are home and staying safe!  Stay warm!

We're getting a lot of panic buying because of a snow forecast Sunday into Monday. At what point do people run out of room for this stuff?

Re: Good morning

Sassy, it's a good thing you got a new coat and gloves!  Be careful and stay warm during the snowstorm.  I'm thankful John will be in the house because he's still healing and needs to be very careful.  The Chinese Buffet sounds wonderful.  You and John think like us.  When the weather is going to turn bad we stock up on supplies.

It's a marshmallow world here, too - but so far it's right at freezing,

and the total accumulation in my yard so far is less than 1" - about 30 degrees. It is slick and slushy underfoot and I'm tucked in for the duration - even more than just to avoid exposure to Covid. Hang in there.

Good morning

You are right about it heading to Pennsylvania. The snowfall is supposed to start tomorrow afternoon and continue through until Monday. They say that we should expect anywhere from 5"-9" of snow. John is still on crutches so I will have some heavy-duty shoveling to do followed by salting our walkways. Thank goodness that I just got a new coat and gloves. This afternoon we are headed out to a Chinese Buffet with Joni, John, and her in-laws. Joni's husband requested that we have a family day with both sets of parents. From there we will grab some supplies and prepare to be housebound until the roads are cleared up. Be safe and enjoy the snow. I know that you love it.
