a great good news story from the past

Good morning
This story goes really deep with influences from Franklin Armstrong, who the character was named after. Charlie and Franklin built a sandcastle after Franklin returned it to him. The 60s was still an uncertain time for blacks. Due to Martin Luther King's powerful speech, those things and the way that we viewed them began to change. Franklin's character was considered to be a bit bland, but Charles Schultz was always very thoughtful when it came to his individual characters.
