Re: Good Afternoon Goldiec

Well, they could not wish for anything nicer. They are lucky, but I know what you mean.

Re sassyass

Not many fireplaces like it now. The chimney needed sweeping so half a pint of paraffin was thrown up it. Smoke drifted from the chimney as it burned . No one took any notice chimneys were always setting fire.

That sounds delicious.

Gramma's are the best. A meat and potato-filled pastie would go quite well with some hot tea.

Good afternoon

I can almost see that black kettle hanging over the fire. Such a cozy and warm vision.

Good Afternoon

Grandparents do love their grandchildren and offer them treats every chance they get.  My grandsons say my superpower is cooking.  I wanted it to be something cool but they said no I have the best superpower of all time.  I disagree but what can I say?

Re: Kabu

There was not much meat in ours but they came straight from the oven and luxuries were on the short side.

This is a delightful episode. Grandmas may sound rough at times, but

they love their grandsons exactly as they are, - what's the saying?  Oh, yes: warts and all. And the grandson has a memory for all time.

Oh a Cornish Pastie. Oh I haven't had one for so long. Many Cornish miners went to the tin mines in South Australia, taking their Pasties with them. One can buy a wonderful tasty Pastie with lots of meat in South Australia, even to today.
