I went through this in 1986. My ex, I call him the sperm donor, could have cared less about our daughter. My husband of almost 36 years, who is an absolute saint, adopted my oldest daughter. We left it up to our daughter as to whether she wanted to visit with the sperm donor or not. She did not. We also never spoke ill of him. The adoption sealed the rest. He is no longer even a thought. Where you're concerned, it truly comes down to the relationship between your ex and the child or children. You're between a rock and a hard spot. You have to go with what is best for the child, and two parents that love them is the best-case scenario when dealing with co-parenting. Good luck to you.
