Re:
I did it to drown things i didn't know how to deal with which is also the reason for most people. Everyone just wants to feel better is the bottom line but then adiction takes hold and it's terrible and destructive and even dangerous.

Re:
Wasn't he here on blogit? I am so sorry for your loss. AA is amazing in many ways. It's like a family of sorts and there is just so much unity and understanding.

My husband Wiley was an alcoholic and for many years I drove him to AA. I was invited to sit and listen and I learned so much so very much, and I believe I became more humble for the chance of such an experience. My dear Wiley was 53 years sober when he died earlier this year. One day at a time!

Everyone in every family has been touched by substance misuse, I think. Where this is so, pain, and how one deals with it - be it physical, mental or both, seems to be the underlying cause. Congratulations on your sobriety. It is not easy to face your demons sober but you can do it!

I am so sorry to hear that. It's very addictive and very dangerous.

First of all let me say that yes I am still here after all this time, but must confess that for the last couple of years I have not been at all faithful to Blogit. Age seems to be the defining factor and the way that I feel on certain days. I'm glad you are back. I'm also glad you have given up alcohol. In 2020 I lost my Son to alcohol poisoning and COPD due to smoking. He lived here with me for years since his wife died of basically the same things and it was very hard for me to deal with his problems and with his demise. But I must say there was a lot of love between us and we definitely had our good times.
