I can't imagine going through all of that. My generation has read and seen videos of wars in action but never have we experienced it.

The little thug hollered and jumped up in air he was hit as well. the classroom laughed. I think the teacher was annoyed because I did not make a noise.

That does bring back memories of old-school days, when teachers
were allowed to issue corporal punishment. Sad to think of this humiliation and unfairness on top of the miserable weather and the war fears... Well written!
