And that's their choice!

Corbin - agreed!

Our country is here because of its heroes and our victories. In the context in which I responded to the comment it was meant that among we who won our wars were people who came back with severe problems which were often not addressed forvthe remainder of their lives. It in no way diminishes our “wins,” for often the lines of war are blurred to the public.

Nobody Wins a war??? Our country wouldn't have survived without our victories!

Re: Thanks, shamasehar

Indeed. And there are so many unsung heroes that did serve in capacities and places which we will never know.

Re: Wow! That is so impressive! And what a photo! Amazing.

Is that the chopper your brother actually took? There are so many people there! What an interesting assignment and what a great tale your brother must have. Thank you muchly for sharing it. And thank him for his service, also! Good they got the cronies out of there and good that he got out safely.

Re:

If they appear shell-shocked, it's even worse than we thought because this was taken on the way IN to the battle. Horror of horrors for these guys. Thank your family who served.

Re: Sad reminder of what our heroes endured.

Brilliant! No Pat, nobody wins a war but many lose. Still, there are times when it is the only choice, it seems.

We can never thank the unsung heroes enough...in whatever capacity or place they fought to make life easier for us.

I have had several serve in different branches. My grandfather was in WWII as well. He was born during WWI. I don't know how the experience was for him because he passed when I was about 3 years old.

I don't believe we go to wars for the fun of it.....

My Brother went to Viet-Nam at the very begining of the war.  He was with the Army Intellligence Agency.  They didn't wear uniforms and spent their whole time in Siagon.

They evacuated at the end of the Intelligence assignment, and escaped by helicopter from the top of their building...after they got out the CIA took over and sent the Viet Nam crownies out of the country.

No Child who is too young to drink alcohol or to vote should ever be sent to war. Actually I believe all wars destroy way more than they relieve. I honor those that fight I just wish old people wouldn't send youngsters to fight.

We can remember.

Never forget. They do appear to be shell-shocked, but wouldn't anyone be who experienced such horrifying conditions? This reminds me of both my grandfather and father-in-law, who each served in two separate wars. WWII & Korea.

We must never forget the sacrifices they made for us.

Sad reminder of what our heroes endured.

If only we could learn to live and let live, to work things out. Nobody wins a war.
