FSI, I never really thought about this but you are right. A raincoat is an important part of outdoor wear on a rainy day.

I wear an Ailige repel wear jacket with a hood if it is necessary. Otherwise I carry an umbrella. The jacket is lines so it is also warm. But, now I just stay in if it is not absolutely necessary to go out in the rain.

In the old days, we just had overcoats and dried them on the lorry radiator if it was not raining. I have been known to get through four in one day.

I can honestly say that I have never worn or owned a raincoat despite living in a state that has plenty of rainy days. I do however have plenty of heavy-duty umbrellas that are quite large and do a great job of protecting my hair and clothes.
