Spring takes forever up here. I can buy seedlings and keep them in the back Porch but not much can stand the cold until the end of May.

Re:
FSI, I think you are right. I do believe we will go back and forth between being a lion and a lamb. Right now our temps are dropping fast and the wind is picking up.

We are at that point where the weather is going to yo-yo. There is an old saying that March comes in like a lion and leaves like a lamb. I find the month goes back and forth between being a lion and a lamb.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: No. I grow the Italian large leaf basil.
Sassy, I'm not sure which one we grow but I know it's not the purple. I have to ask Roy. I usually only see one kind at the garden center. I love rubbing my finger over the leaf. It smells so good! How do you make your pesto? I love pesto!

I make a lot of pesto, so I need plenty of it.

Re: Re: I like that idea.
I grow most of my herbs in pots too. My herbs are in my window for now. I will take them outdoors when it is safe. I do grow my lavender and mint in the ground though. Last year my basil grew so high that it looked like a tree. Unfortunately, it did not make the transition into the house. I still have my thyme and oregano, but I want parsley and rosemary. Spring cannot get here fast enough. I wait until after Mother's Day, and then it is on from there.

Re: Good morning!
Sassy, we grow our herbs on the patio and it's so nice to be able to go out the back door and snip what we need and take it in the kitchen to cook with. I think it's priceless.

Re: Happy Monday! Nice to think of growing things and spring.
Pat, I will be so happy when I see flowers and vegetables growing in our yard. I'm really excited that it is March 1, I know Spring is almost close enough to touch.

Good morning!
Walking through the garden center is my favorite spring highlight too. So many choices, and so much pride when you see them growing.
