A lot of what worked for them yesterday was the pure disbelief on the part of most of America that it could ever happen. Now they've blown that for all time. So there might be more mayhem, but they won't find it so easy to get away with it.

I think a lot of the world has watched us the past 4 years, swirling the drain, and mourned for what good was being damaged and lost. At the same time, the US has always had a lot of critics, not all of whom were wrong. I like to believe that most of our friends, and most of the sensible people of the planet have understood that Trump has never represented any but the worst of the American persona.

The more I think about what happened and how it happened, the more evident it becomes that it was always lurking under the surface, it just needed permission and encouragement to come out. Now we have to own that side of the American persona, and change it. I have great faith that we are going to walk that path successfully.
