I'm with Annacita on this one... I have an older model Kindle, but rarely fire it up.

I have a kindle and used it once or twice. There is just something about having the book in hand and turning those pages manually. I will download some books on it when I travel.

Re: Re: Goldiec

Taps, I pass on my paperbacks too.

Re: Goldiec

Books have always been a love of my life, especially the hardbacks which I never give away.  It is the paperbacks I read and pass on to others.

I do have a kindle and I like it but there are times I like to read a book.  I have a lot of hardback books and I do love them

Re: FSI

I have always loved books, but with old eyes and tiresome holding of heavy books, I'm quite ready for the change.  I also like it that you can get the Kindle books so quickly.

Re: adnohr

The text larger is what I am looking forward to.  When one could check out books from our library, I tried always to get large-print books.  The ones I buy never are.  I can read them but I feel eye strain after a while.

I love my Kindle, TAPS. It is easy to hold, you can download books cheaply within minutes, and with a back light on it, no need, in my case, to worry about electric power going off and forcing me to read by candlelight! One can also make the text larger, making it easier on the eyes. Note I still have a large library of 'real books', but the Kindle makes things much easier.

EReaders are all the rage nowadays. I myself am holding out a bit longer...

Re: I've resisted technology, including the cell phone although I had one

The first time that happened to me while eating out with someone that held the iPhone in their lap and piddled with it, I thought they were praying and I just sat there and did not talk or eat for the longest time.  I think it was the last time I went out to eat with that person..

Re: I know a lot of people who use the Kindle Reader and love it.

That's what I have always said, but at my age, I don't need a growing anything.  I'm in the process of trying to get rid of, so someone else won't be strapped with that.

I know a lot of people who use the Kindle Reader and love it.

I much prefer to hold a book in my hand and then later add it to my growing library collection.

I've resisted technology, including the cell phone although I had one

at one time. I don't like the way they become addictive, people on their phones and texting while driving. Can't have a cup of coffee with someone and talk face to face without them checking the phone and chatting online at the same time.  I'd like to know how you like Kindle, though. The books do pile up and linger.

Re: Sea Gypsy

As I said, it is well done, but it made me sad.  My DIL is black and her family was from the South and the family history was slavery and that is what the book is about.  It is hard for me to take people being the way they were and still are in this day and age.

I’d be interested to see how you like it.
