I say they are better than two-year-old humans. No terrible twos.

Lord, yes! We have been blessed to have some of the smartest dogs! Really nice.

Re: Mutts are the best, Pat_B. I also prefer rescue dogs.

We once had a Collie named, Frisky. We got him when I was pregnant with our youngest daughter. He became territorial and crapped on my hubby's side of the bed more than once. He would follow me around the house and then stare at me when I ignored him.

I like mutts. The dog we had when the kids were young was a shepherd

mix, very intelligent but neurotic as heck. She got reverse house trained - would not do her business outdoors. My housewifely duties included cleaning her mess in the basement. Surprisingly we had her for more than 12 years. Once had a cocker spaniel who would not learn, but she ran away to live with a neighor when I started working a day job.

We've had a Border Collie and a German Shepherd.  They are both very smart dogs.  Our German Shepherd liked other dogs but our Border Collie felt she was human and had no use for other dogs.
