I've not seen any signs like this.  We still have flaggers but I'm not sure for how long.

They have had those signs here for quite some time. Not many flagmen anymore. Yes, they will be replaced except in emergency situations, I think. One more thing gone.

Nothing about technology will surprise me now...but if there comes a time when you can flip a switch and go back in time....warn people not to go back to 20-20

Humans are being replaced consistently by machines.

Anything to reduce corporation overhead. It is a sign of the times. Online shopping has killed thousands of mall and brick & mortar retail store jobs. Walmart's self-checkouts have cut down on their need for so many employees. McDonald's has reduced the need for cashiers by putting in self-order boards instead of going to the cashier. The toll roads here in PA have eliminated all toll collectors and put cameras in place for collecting money through the mail. Virtual learning has reduced jobs for teachers. The list goes on and on.
