Re:

Kabu, thank you so much for the comment.  I really do need a break from working on peppers so I did decide to write part 5 of my Halloween story.  I must have worked on it for 2 hours believe it or not.  I added parts and then deleted other parts for quite some time.  I do like the way it turned out and there will be one last chapter. I like my words to flow together simply and that is much easier said than done.  I'm anxious to hear how your plants do once they are inside for awhile.  We brought our Christmas cactus inside last week and it's sitting on the table in the living room where it's always happy.  It has to stay dark until it flowers and that's the darkest place in the room. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Enough peppers for today, I do agree; besides selfish me, I want the rest of that story. LOL. In Australia gardening went on all year around. Here in Canada Summer is a bit short but I actually enjoy the break. I am bringing in a few extra plants this year. I am not sure quite how well they will survive but it will be fun to try. I don't have good Winow sills but one to put them on.

Re:

C_C_T, thank you so much for the comment.  I've learned something new today.  I wasn't aware that there was such a thing as winter lettuce.  I have to tell Roy about it.  Do you think it would grow here?

Well you have been busy, I hope your veggies keep you going through the winter.

When I was a boy we had quite hard winters at times, but I used to plant winter lettuce. I can hardly believe it now but I hardly lost 1% and in the spring they sold like hot cakes. At that time we were a long way from other houses, but the birds did not seem to touch them. I don't think it would be the same along now.

Re: I am surprised that you don't have nightmares about peppers.

Sassy, thank you so much for the comment.  Does the buttermilk tame the heat of the habanero and ghost peppers?  I give John credit because this would be too hot for me.  I told Roy I think John's insides are made out of steel.  Is a habanero or a ghost pepper hotter?  When you go for your walk are you going anywhere special or just wherever your walk takes you?

I am surprised that you don't have nightmares about peppers.

You have sure cut enough to warrant them being a part of a bad dream. As for the weather, I think that we are a smidge warmer here than in Cleveland. Speaking of peppers, I plan to make spicy beer-battered fried chicken for John today followed by a long city walk. The batter will be permeated with habanero and ghost pepper soaked in buttermilk. Then I will dredge the chicken in a garlic & onion powder flour mixture. I will not be joining him as far as the chicken goes. That is too much heat for me, but he loves it.
