Actually Sassy he was very frail he used to call me My Boy when I was Fifty. He had been a prisoner of war, but I never thought to ask him how he survived.

Re: Taps

It must have been a life with few luxuries, but he must have been a good man and showed love for his children.

The fear felt leaves us with a haunting feeling at the end.

This is wonderful.  In this I see my father who worked so hard to give his seven children the good things in life.   Often he was not really appreciated for his time and energy and self-sacrifice or for the little extras that he did and gave to others.

I can so identify with these characters. Accepting the status quo is

sometimes a choice we make that is contrary to our true ambitions. I like the empathy the boy feels for the tired man.

Creativity at it's best

Excellent writing as always!  I think there are some lessons to be learned here.  I love fantasy and everyone has that gift.  It just depends if they choose to use it or only see life in black and white. I think an artist has the ability to dream the wildest of dreams and make a living out of beauty from the heavens above to the depths of their soul.  Creativity is what makes the world go round.  I love it when I see a child being creative.  It's soothing to their soul.  Whatever their circumstances may be if they are creative they have a gift to give to the world.
