FSI, I've been writing forever and a day and never once considered a Mermaid. I question my thought process on this one. I write about so many different animals and dragons but never a Mermaid. I've got to get busy on my research. Thank you so much for the comment.

Sassy, thank you so much for the link! I checked it out and there are some awesome facts about mermaids. I had no idea there were different kinds of mermaids according to legend. I never had a clue.

Oh yeah, you have to add the mermaid.
Many ship captains from the 1600s & 1700s claim to have seen them gracefully swimming in the sea, especially before a storm.

I do not know much about mermaids either. My knowledge is limited to The Little Mermaid.

Pat_B, thank you so much for the comment. I do want to include a Mermaid in at least one of my stories. A few years ago I had written a story about Molly, the border collie going to the beach with her family for a vacation. It was a murder mystery but I could have had a mermaid in that story and I seriously never thought about it. What was I thinking???? I have no idea. I write about a goldfish but not a mermaid.

A) don't bother watching the debate, it will elevate your blood pressure,
and 2) if you're doing research on mermaids, I'd start with the Disney movie... Even if you decide not to include them in your stories, you'll have something to smile about.
