Re: Re: Re: I always garage my little baby car because I don't want her to

Oh my Kabu,  I'm so sorry to hear you were sick last winter?  What was wrong?  Did you have the flu? A squirrel in your engine is not good much less 3 babies.  Did they leave on their own?  It reminds me of several years ago when a raccoon got in our fireplace and had 5 babies.  The mother left and we had to call the village to get help for the 5 baby raccoons.  Shortly after that incident, we got a new chimney cap and that hasn't happened since then.  Critters find the strangest places to stay. We live near the woods and we have all kinds of interesting things happen.  I won't even mention the Wolf spiders.

freeze and I hate scraping ice off the windows. However because i was sick most of this last winter, I didn't use her and she became a home to a squirrel who had her 3 babies in and around the engine. Sigh!!

Re: Our cold weather came out of nowhere too.

Sassy, thank you so much for the comment.  I think you would love a heated mattress and with the fan on you would be warm and cool at the same time.  That's what I call priceless!.

Re:

FSI, the sun is shining here but it is definitely chilly.  Thank you so much for the comment.  I hope it warms up by you. Winter is definitely on its way but I hope we get to enjoy fall before the snow.

Our cold weather came out of nowhere too.

That heated mattress sounds like a real gem to have. We sleep with a fan for the noise, so the room tends to get cold. I do not sleeping in an overheated room, but I also do not like freezing. A happy medium would work. The fan and the heated mattress would work well together.

The colder weather came out of nowhere. Temps in the 80s and 90s, then bam.

Re:

C_C_T, Thank you so much for your comment! We try to always make sure we are ready before the first snow. I hope you continue to have a mild winter.  When temps drop too low they are dangerous.  I think I have 6 pair of gloves and I always like to wear a scarf around my neck on really cold days. We always have extra gloves for the kids when they are here.  They always lose their gloves. I hope you stay warm and have a good day!

Re: Chilly here, too. And now that you mention winter prep, maybe I'll

Pat_B, thank you so much for your comment. Our tractor has a snow plow attachment but it's not on yet because we still have to deal with the falling leaves. Our snow shovel is always on standby and I have to check and see if we need salt for the walkways. I do have cocoa in the pantry but I have to restock my marshmallows.  The kids ate all of them!  They love big cups of cocoa with marshmallows on top!  Stay warm and enjoy your day!

Re:

BC_A, Thank you so much for the comment!  When the temps start dropping down I worry about my plants until I have them all inside.  We have a back room that isn't heated and when we first bring the plants in after we spray them we put them back there.  Then after a few days we bring them into the heated part of the house.  Believe this or not we have plants that like to be in certain areas around the house. They thrive once they are in their winter home.

Re:

Kabu, thank you so much for your comment!  I'm so glad that you don't have to go out much in the winter months.  The winter temperatures can be very dangerous. I think most people that live in really cold areas stock their freezers. I have one neighbor that always runs out of eggs so I always buy extra eggs so that when they call to borrow eggs I have them. It does get cold enough here to keep frozen food outside too!  Sometimes we are way below zero. I have a friend that lives in Canada and they plug their vehicles in at night so they will start in the morning.

just bring the snow shovel in from the garage, because once it snows, ... well, you know the drill.  I hope your stocked shelves include a supply of cocoa.

Re:

Sea Gypsy, thank you so much for your comment.  I'm wondering what your temperatures are?  It is very brisk here this morning and we do have the heat on.  I could feel a little cold air coming through the bedroom air conditioner last night so I think Roy is right and today we will be taking the air conditioners out and storing them till next year.

We have not had really cold Winters for quite a while. Perhaps we are due for one, but I hope not. It is nice to be prepared, one cannot beat a warm bed.

It was cold, during my nap  The residents  of an old house that influenced the house in my story, brought inside plants on the railing of a cupola, and down, in the protected foundation.

it is chilly up here and I am glad that I don't need to go out much in the Winter. Yes I am filling the freezer with food. Here it gets so far below freezer so that I can put a bin outside full of frozen food and it won't spoil.I have actually switched from A/C to heat.
