Depends I expect. One can sense danger but it it is someone looking for Hostory or the best place for lunch or perhaps a suburb that is fine by me.

I always greet people with a smile and sometimes people don't understand a kind greeting. They misinterpret it as wanting something.  I find that to be very sad.

Yes, very wary. As for a smile, it's one of those things. Sometimes a yes, sometimes a no. Depends on the chemistry and the gut feeling.
