We weren’t alowed to okay that game, though my mother would read tea leaves for her friends. She was very “sensitive.” I tried out the Ouija a few times as a young adult, but have no desire to be around one now.

Do you feel the same about divining rods as the planchette?

Re: Even though we are ghost hunters, we do not play with Ouija boards.

Definitely take precautions if you're planning on doing some serious conjuring.

Re:

I don't think it's the board itself...hell it's made of compressed cardboard. I think if you have a smooth table surface there's quite a few light objects which can act as suitable planchettes.

My best friend won't go near one. He's a big tatooed blackbelt, and if he sees one in the window of a toy store he will literally walk another block out of his way to avoid it.

I have never played the game. Some thing in me is holding back and i won't go near one of those boards. Maybe someone when I was a child told me it was evil. Who knows but i feel uncomfortable.

Even though we are ghost hunters, we do not play with Ouija boards.

They are not child's play when used frivolously. Years ago, our daughter's friend brought one over to our house for a slumber party. We had bizarre situations for about two weeks after that. They are by far one of the creepiest board games ever invented.

I never could make it work!

I've never done it. It does intrigue me, though.

My family was always pretty religious and my Dad was very careful about what games we could play--no dice, no playing cards (execpt Old Maid and Authors), etc.  But somewhere our family acquired a oija board--no planchet only the board.  We always used it for a tray when someone in the family was sick in bed.  It usually had on it either Lipton's Noodle Soup or garlic soup, some crackers, and a dish of jello.  We never paid any attention to the designs on it.
