Oh yes that is agony and one is at risk of dehydration and fever. I am glad you could get home next day to your own bed.

I would imagine that you use plenty of sun cream these days. I really think the sun is a lot hotter. You would not want to go through that again.

It is easy to do at the beach. The sheets against the burn are horrible.

You forget about time and the sun while visiting the shops, splashing in the water, playing in the sand, or laying out. The next thing you know, that little sting can be felt, indicating several days of anguish ahead. My worst burn occurred in 1984 while laying out at Lahontan Resvoir outside of Fallon, Nevada. I worked three jobs at the time, so I was tired by the time that I finally got a day off. I fell asleep on a beach towel. I woke up to the sound of birds sqawking and realized that I was in total pain. It took three days for the pain to stop. The perk...I had one helluva nice tan.
