I was so busy in the 60s - didn't get to live as a flower child, but
I certainly thought about what it would mean to live a free life in San Francisco. That was the first time in America assassins took shots at our heroes and when violent demonstrations against war did not seem ironic. I learned to question the dire warnings of life insurance salesmen and the saw the first McDonald's golden arches go up at the edge of town.

It all seems so long ago, and yet I remember it so well.

Some of the most beautiful aspects for me was the music, the groups of flower children who went off the grid and tried the simple life. Yes some grew old still being the hippy and many more went back and finished their University degree and rejoined the "rat race." Still, the concepts of Peace and Love, were a lot sweeter than war and hate.

It was an interesting era.
My mom has told similar stories. I was born in the early 60s, so I have very little memory of those "Hippy" or "Flower Children," but my dad served in the Vietnam War. Thanks for sharing your version. History should never be forgotten.
