I lived in Oregon when Mt. St. Helens erupted.
We drove up the coast to Seattle, Washington that same year, and all everyone talked about the entire trip was the volcano. I was 15 in 1980. For me at that age, it was a fascinating and scary event, because I had never heard of such a thing.
