I've always liked that one.

Re: Aba bro

Had that prank not been player, we had been the poorer, isn’t it, dear Sis.

Aba bro

Yes, I recall that now. But what a prank!

Re: Sis Sea

it was in an amorous prank that the Baron had cut off a lock of hair of a society beauty, Miss Araball Fermor, to her great indignation. And Pope starts “Say, what strange motive goddess could compel / a well-bred lord lord to assault a gentle belle”. I fully agree with you POV. Am glad you liked my elucidation.

Re: Kabu

Quite exciting though, the life and times of the hig-class ladies of those times. But equally, how Pope brings those times to reality, or, as if he transports us back in time.

How clearly you elucidate the concept for us. I rather think had I been high-born at that time I would have run off into the country, not caring a whit for society or the finery of fashion. A simple shift, a cozy cottage, fresh food, books and health, a good man and children, all would have made a fine enough life for me in those times - or any time. How very absurd life for women was then. And by using supernatural machinery to emphasize that point, why should he not? It worked. Thank you again.

Charming and delightful but what a sad period to have been born a woman

I think of George Sands; and what of the ordinary woman. Middle class, destined for a life of childbirth and obeydiance to Father or husband.

And the poor class expected to have the children to live an exempt life . To toil both inside and outside the hovel.

I love how you make me stop and think dear Teacher.
