Well told story. Thanks for the imagery and imagination.
It's a very subdued version of St. Patrick's day we're having this year, even in Ireland itself. They, too, are forbidden to gather closely or sing the old songs and parade... (sigh).

Pittsburgh survived the blizzard of 93 with a parade that walked through almost 4' of snow, but the Coronavirus is nothing to rebel against. Our parad was canecelled for safety reasons.

Our parade was cancelled too, but we are still celebrating as it is my oldest daughter's birthday.

Our St. Patrick's Day Snake Parade was cancelled for the first time in forty-some years. Would you believe I never did go to it anyway. LOL
