The other day, I thought I saw my middle school algebra teacher, in a supermarket. He should be about that age.

Amazing teachers are the best, and that is awesome of you to show your respect. Holding the door open is something that has almost died. I am married to an Italian. They have a language that is all their own which is quite hilarious at times, which include's talking with their hands.
