I have friends in Australia who always drive the latest Volvo and am amazed at what those vehicles can do...well no they don't chat as you roll along but everything else.

Ohhh, I see. Not the great fun I had pictured. I learned to drive a stick in an area like that, minus the snow and ice. S C A R Y.

Re: FSI,

Well, my truck at home is a 2005 model, a Silverado long-bed pickup. I have yet to enter the era of fancy gadgets in a car of my own. So they are all quite an adventure!

Re: RPresta,

This is a town of curves and hills, and one of the two routes home winds and twists like parts of California's Highway 1 up the coast. They had some scary and unintentional off-roading last winter, in fact, so bad that they took Elsa out of the car and walked home with her before dealing with the ice and curves!

Re: adnohr,

Got the route to school and back again embedded now, and that's probably all I will need for now.

Re: TAPS,

Ha! I know a bunch of odd stuff, but a whole lot of not much about things everyone else knows! The Landrover, though, is not too steep of a learning curve.

Re: Pat,

Just up the road there is a fine patch of mushrooms I might yet walk up to,to take a picture! But my back doesn't go much for walking, sadly. Loving the northwest air, though!

It's amazing all of the gadgets vehicles have in them these days. I'm sure there are more vehicle gadgets to come.

Glad you are enjoying driving, and getting used to the town. Sounds very nice.

Nope - being a passenger doesn't help me either where directions are concerned. Sounds like a cool mobile!

I'll bet it would be lovely walking in that neighborhood, too. Fresh

air, mild temps, the mountains... oh, my!

You are a genius. Should have been a motor mechanic.
