It must be difficult for her to visit and to have the extra tasks to do on top of that. My heart goes out to her.

Brings back memories of things that went on at the Health Care Center where my Dad was for the last three years of his life. A woman resident was always after my Dad to be her "boy friend" even when my Mom was there visiting him.

I think you may have a point there - particularly a stroke affects the brain, but there may also be something that changes once a person comes face to face with the possibility of serious loss.

I heard having a stroke or heart attack can completely change a person.
