Ciel - Enjoy your records!

Was I ever brought up with music! My mom sang the songs you mentioned; we had opera and classical music sounding out from the back room where g-uncle lived; we heard jazz and contemporary also. At night my parents played the radio in our  bedroom so music soothed us as we went to sleep.

Yes, I had my own record player, a gift when I turned five. I had an orange record of military and patriotic songs and another record that was fabulous, among others. It was an amazing record for children. I don't know its name and wish someone could tell me what it was. It was narrated between snippet of music and taught children how to listen to the sounds of rhythm; the beats of music in everyday life. There would be raindrops, footsteps, everything! Just an extraordinary record that I'd recommend for every child. It stayed with me a lifetime.

Lots of music from the movies and the musicals. Lots of Tchaikovsky and the other great Masters, the Beatles from start to the end and then beyond. Elvis ballads...probably everything from the 60's and then WW1 songs that we used to sing standing around the piano with Mother's family.
