A lot of different things going on, I see.

I'm afraid I've lost interest in getting the narratives done for the albums

of old family photos - haven't wanted to visit Ancestry.com for ages. I know at some point my kids - the daughters at least - will have the urge to climb the family tree, but most of it is safely (?) stored in plastic tubs or file boxes, gathering dust. I do love the thought of a rose-gold sunset, and the great mountain shoulders holding up the sky...

Ciel - Thank you.

Tragic. Exceptionally so since my g-uncle, who lived with us growing up and was a surrogate grandfather since our GF had passed early, was a professional photographer who owned his own studio. So very many treasures were lost. A color film of my parents’ wedding from a time when most movies were still black and white, was exceptionally sad. I only had the dregs, so to speak. Now they are prizes.

Re: RPresta,

So sad, to lose all those photos and slides!  I'm glad you had some safely out of the flood.

And a peaceful night to you, also. We haven't gotten many sunset views here this summer because of cloud cover. Your slides sound wonderful. As you may know, we had many slides, and precious film and photos that we lost in a flood from a wildfire the summer beforehand. They were at my brother's home, along with all they types of things you just mentioned. I had a few at my house so all was not totally lost, just most.
