All I can say is that I agree with you and applaud you...
Your description of how you used to react towards people like DEMS is not unlike the way I myself do react today...I realise, though, that this is not the way to deal with the situation, the people who so frustrate me, and even myself. It's just that, like you said, it's the failure of people to see the 'bigger picture', the grander, wider scale of things; the implications, the consequences, the deeper motivations, etc. Keep up the good work, my friend
Flip.

Max, There Are...
...folk like DEMS in the world, and we just have to accept that. We do need to ensure they are kept away from any important positions of power or any part of the decision-making process, because that's like giving dynamited to a child (see current US "administration" for proof) but other than that, they're as entitled to rant as the rest of us.
In the 13 months I've been here, I've seen them come and go, and my attitude towards them has changed. They used to make me furious, and frustrate me that they can't see the blindingly obvious. They can't see the unsustainability of many aspects of our current model of civilisation. They just don't see the bigger picture.
Now, however, I feel a mix of pity and gratitude. Pity because they really believe the crap they spout, regurgitating the crap they hear and read as if its gospel. And gratitude because on no other forum, and certainly not in my everyday life, would I ever even meet with these sort of right wing nutters, let alone have 'conversations' with them. So on the odd occasion where one of them (usually not DEMS!!) comes up with some good, solid arguement, I'm challenged as I never would be normally.
Thanks for dropping by!

Damon, I have a question
How do you deal with people like this? demsareevil talks about "real and proveable facts." He's been sucked up by Rush and Fox News it seems to me. I know there's freedom of speech and this place is great to let it all go, but everyone here needs to listen as well as talk.

philosopher?
The 9/11 attacks happened because of Clinton's ineptness of cutting the military, CIA, FBI, INS etc., even after the first WTC attack in 1993, of which Clintoon did nothing about and didn't even go there afterwards.
Liberals like Damon refuse to see facts and instead rely on conspiracy theories that are never proven or based in fact.
While Bush has had to rebuild those areas in defense and law, he also created the Homeland Security Department that all liberals hate, but want none the less for protection. Canadian Social philosopher? Oh puleeese! You just keep on sucking that crap up damon.... gees, no wonder you're so wacky!
Get real for once and face some actual, provable facts!

Benefiting
That single thought is so terrifing - that you almost want to deny the thought, but you cant't. I am not anti American, I am an American, but when certian types of people rise to power, it scares you. I probably would be kicked out of the country for suggesting that Bush and Hitler sound a lot alike.
