Notapoet,
hope ya get over that flu, Had to print this blog out so I can study it further, I'm slow like with the math In any case, I had started  another blog in News & Politics  but have now deleted it. It seemed to be a waste of time and really who cares about Canadian politics right? I will look forward to hear you expand on your "opportunities thought"  in blogs after 10 through 24. Thanks for your blogging old friend.Get the vase ,man

Christine

All the information I use to come up with my rankings is in the system.  I simply figured out how to find what I wanted to know, note the data that is significant to me, and compile it to produce my various rankings.  Every blog posted before the last system update has an overall rank and every blog posted is listed in its appropriate category by its overall rank in the system.  If I want to know how many blogs are in a given category, I simply click on that category and go to the last page to find the exact figure.  I can do this for all 24 categories to get the total number of blogs in the system if I want.  I wrote down the total number of blogs in each category through the last day of January.  Yesterday I found and wrote down the total number of blogs in each category again.  Subtracting the first number from the second number gave me the net change, plus or minus, in the category since the first of the month.  I then ranked them (listed them) by the amount of increase or decrease for the period.

The category rankings in the system do not give a particular blog's overall rank.  But they do tell who posted each blog.  If I click on that blogger's name, I'm taken to his, or her, member profile.  On that page is listed every one of the blogger's blogs, it's category, and it's overall rank in the system.  This overall rank for each individual blog is all I need to know for my other rankings.  After I have all the necessary information I do the math and post the results.  Its not hard.  However, it is very time-consuming for some of the rankings I've devised.  That's why I don't post most of my rankings more often..

You could do the same thing I'm doing, or any variation on my rankings that you might care to attempt.  Try it and give me a holler if you get stuck.  I can talk you through it until you get the hang of it.  Then you won't need my rankings any more because you can do your own whenever you want.  But I hope you keep reading me anyway.

I still don't get how you come up with those numbers.
