Re: Is Doctor Trust Warranted
Once upon a time, the public learned to trust their physicians. But today, the world of medicine has changed dramatically. Medicine is big business and to sustain it requires making profits. Profits can only occur if there is a steady stream of customers; unfortunately, many doctors today give the Hippocratic Oath lip service. Once in practice, most doctors will treat patients, not cure what ails them.

I have to admit that I am totally happy with my Practical Physician, I've been with him for over 10 years... sometimes I have a problem with a specialist or two.
They don't establish a rapport when you're only with them 15-20 minutes, 1 or 2 times a year.

I agree that the profit ideal in this country--and in all those countries and systems influenced by it--has led to a deterioration of trust not only in doctors, but in science itself, and in all authority.

Modern medicine has changed for the worse sadly. I'm hoping it can get back on track.
