Pat - I feel bad for you with this one, for sure. So sorry.
The other comments are so on point. I think if you gently continue with the group, insisting gently (is that possible) that they adhere to the guidelines, eventually the offending persons will either get with the program or leave and things will return to normal. I sure hope so. Otherwise, could you start your own program, perhaps at the library?

what a shame it has been a wonderful write class for years ...in come a couple new people and they can ruin everything. no place for politics or religion. sad!!!!
