Re: Re: RP

It's getting like that in many places. That cottage would have been a great investment. What a shame  - you should have bought it!

Re: Pat

No he knows it would be a job to get anywhere as secluded. Although having big lawns and gardens mean a lot of work if one does not enjoy or cannot do that kind of work any longer.

Re: RP

I know it is the same everywhere it seems, we have a government scheme to help first time buyers. I think one problem is kids go to the university and borrow huge amounts,

It would not matter if they could get highly paid jobs afterwards, but most go in for easy subjects art etc. They then take low paid jobs as they are not qualified for much at all.

House prices here here are much too high for youngsters . I remember years ago a little chap I knew cycle down to a nearby village to look at a thatched cottage £200 He turned it down as he thought the thatch might need replacing. I expect it has been renovated .Goodness knows what it would fetch today.

I'm curious as to whether or not that developer will buy up your brother's neighborhood...It didn't end too well for him, did it?

Ah, to live on a quarry... The way it’s been raining here and the flooding with landslides, it would be a good thing. They’ve just built what seems like thousands of units on the other side of town. Unbelievable, and the congestion that will cause. I really enjoyed your poem. It seemed so true-to-life. Often a girl will look like her mother later, but not always.

Forty flats where two houses once stood? That would mean parking

problems, families with kids who make mischief. I hope he decides not to sell.
