Re: Shams

That sounds to me to be most similar to the vision of heaven of Jesus in the New Testament. Also, concerning God, Jesus taught us to consider God as "Abba",  a gentle and endearing term more like "daddy",  as a small child who needs to be swept up into the the loving, guiding and protecting arms of his or her father.... not the fearsome vengeful God-image of the Old Testament.  But there is that gentle and friendly God in the Old Testament too, as Corbin has pointed out.  Cheers

Re:

Excellent point -  Of course there is a Self when the small self is effaced it is more like Soul and is always in Unity with God.   Hard to talk about but a REAL experience.

Sufism seems to be a religion of self-destruction.  Buddhism is also such.  Also the "Law of One" I am currently critiquing.  Is there no middle ground, where an enlightened loving self can enjoy existence and fellowship with other loving selves?  Why is there no "self" left when the ego is overcome?  Why are you so eager not to exist as "you" anymore?  I would say when the ego is overcome, you are then the best "self" you can be!

Uhhhh......

Exodus 33:11 says, "And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend."
