I don't look at it that way. If I choose to give a gift I do so from the bottom of my heart rather than in anticipation of reciprocation. Do what feels right for you.

Re: I'm uncomfortable receiving gifts from occasional friends, co-workers

About like me then Pat I don't really want anything. I remember when I was a lad about 16 an old lady to whom I delivered goods ,always gave me a look at Christmas, slowly opened her purse and I could see she was picking out a sixpence. 'No thank you.' I always said. She would smile and put it back  in her purse.

Re: Rpresta

No RP they all seem grateful, once I could not have afforded to do it and it is a nice feeling although I am glad when I finish .

Re: Corbin

Perhaps I'll give them just a card, that is if I can stand the disappointment on their sad faces.

That's neat you and your neighbors give one another gifts for Christmas. We don't do that in my neighborhood.

That little girl is very excitable and realistic.

Hahaha....My approach would be next year they're off the list  (unless they are in need)

Sweet poem for us. It depends about gifts. If it would make someone happy then sure, a gift is great. If one would feel uncomfortable receiving a gift, then no, no gift.

small children and their questions, my post gives you the perfect answer to stop those questions in their track. I cannot do Christmas presents this year. I have no time at present.

unless it's a gift exchange with drawn names, etc. But I do enjoy giving. It's weird.
