LOL... got ya. No autopsy, no foul! When I have Internet, I use it. When I don't have Internet, but have electricity, I work off-line. If I have neither, I relax in my recliner covered with dogs.  Happiness is a state of mind and attitude.

Re:

I didn't word it properly....I was refering to your on and off internet problems.  I had those same problems for a few years and it does impact ones anticipation levels.

Re:

Anticipation? Maybe not. I prefer to think that I am prepared for anything. The UP is a large area that is sparsely populated. If you get away from "metropolises" like Newberry, population of about 900 people, you can go a long way before hitting another town that has the resources that are in this town. I grew up on a farm that was a good mile from the nearest paved road. Our existence depended on my Father's ingenuity. He always seemed to be ready for anything, and I learned the importance of that ability many times.

I sleep well knowing that no matter what happens, as long as I am in my 'castle,' I am safe. In fact, the local hospital, shelter agencies, and the Michigan State Police all know that I have a lot of spare area, and if someone really needed shelter, I can provide it. I have well over 1600 square feet of upstairs living area, and that does not include the 26'x40' basement, which I have converted over to a household unto its own. My next major project is to 'wall up' a 22' x 14' area in my garage.

It used to be a two stall garage, but after I bought this place, but before I moved in, someone smashed the smaller of the two overhead garage doors. I walled it up on the outside, and now I'm going to add two more rooms in the old parking area there. I figure I could add a hot tub, pool table, and sleeping quarters for two more sets of people if I needed the space. Either way, it would also help keep the house safe from the south side by cutting down the wind that comes off Lake Michigan about 28 miles south of me.

I'm still considering my options to the north side that is exposed to Lake Superior's temper tantrums. When Mama Superior is angry, you can feel its wrath on the Lake Michigan shores. I'm thinking of adding an exterior walled in porch to help knock down some of the wind that comes sweeping south off the big lake.
