Kabu

Wow, that is terrible.  My 92 year old mother has similar mistreatment and neglect in the nursing home.  But some irony about the scissors......  Wiley was in no condition to have access to scissors,  but my mother uses some small scissors to cut out newspaper articles for me and others to read....  this is very important to her,  and the staff tried to take those scissors away from her!!  It seems that nurses and attendants become callussed and apathetic, even hostile,  to the very people they are supposed to care about.  Or it becomes a game of control and domination over the patients.  So it is either neglect or domination,  and neither is good.  Thank God you felt a need to go to the hospital today!!  .........  I don't know why this comment turned BOLD,  I hit some key on the keyboard by mistake, and can't undo it.  Sorry!!

It's a good thing you came to visit, for you were able to straighten out those matters.

Yes a miserable affair, try and keep your spirit up. If it is anything like the hospitals here you will be the last to know.

Kabu

I'm very sorry to hear this. My sis told me years ago that one must have an advocate that the hospital knows is coming around or one receives less care. How awful. Take care, dear. Prayers and hope for you both.

Dear Kabu

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that about Sir Wiley, in distress. He'll be in my prayers and may God give you strength to look after him well. It seems that the hospitals in Canada are no better than those of India's.

You had good reason to rant.  I hope never to go to the hospital again.  I wasn't too pleased with the place myself.

I know what you mean Kabu. I had to do rant multiple times at the hospitals with my mom. The threat of a lawsuit always got their attention.

It's not just at that hospital - one needs an advocate in the ones

around here, too. I can speak to this from my own experience, I was much better looked after when one of my kids was around or when the staff knew they could show up at any time.  Good thing you got those scissors to a safe distance.  BTW, do you happen to know anyone in the legal profession - some attorney friend who might come with you to visit Wiley and be introduced to the care team? Just knowing there is one around might keep folks on their toes...  Get some rest.
