n away RP these folk would be better of than many, nearly self sufficient and free from the constraints of laboring for little reward.  Here in this little town men would jump at the chance to do a days hay making and would stand in groups under the old Buttercross, after the  WW1 war, bored I expect. I am not much good at history but I know from what was told. Of course that is how things were passed down in the old days.

I suppose what was normal ten or twelve decades ago , would be poverty to most, but folk survived and you can see why a lot emigrated.
