Re: Bill
Really Bill folk do not like tomatoes that are too large, My brother likes the small cherry type , so I have to grow a few plants for him as he says the toms are more suitable for freezing..

Re: Pat
Yes Pat It has been a problem with the heat this year. We covered most structures with netting. Otherwise stuff would have dried out too quickly. Yes poor child I don't remember what she died from.

Re: Ciel
Yes I believe green tomatoes are fried and served in some places. We always try to pick them just under-ripe as some folk think they are too ripe if really red.

That's a poignant snippet of memory of a moment that cast a long shadow.
Green tomatoes give a lemony flavor to a recipe, and I have heard that fried green tomatoes are pretty good. I remember some really delicious big beefsteak tomatoes my dad once brought back from a Pennsylvania Deutch market--we ate them like apples!

The lush greenhouse looks wonderful... I'll bet it's tropical in there,
warm and humid. Your poem has roots - and branches. Lovely bit of a peek into the motivations of children.

I hope the tomatoes will be larger than the girl and softer than the boy sir. They look good.
