You're correct about the aging of machinery for a business that revolves around machinery being the biggest problem.

The need for repairs starts with a trickle for an older piece of machinery, then increases to a constant.

Is it wrong for me to say that the biggest problem with a business revolving around major amounts of machinery is the gradual aging of the equipment?   Do the needs for repairs spread out over time or does it seem to happen all at once?

For me that would be the hardest part of running a business -

having to lay off people who have become almost like family & knowing the problems they'll face because the money's gone short. You tell the story well.
