I've never been noodling, but I have been fishing where there were two men noodling and they caught big ones just like that. All I caught was a very large gar which I didn't want.

I beleive there's an old saying about a snapping turtle...
" Don't let a snapping turtle bite you, cause it won't let go till it thunders."

Sadly they won't let go ,so I was told . Do you know any fish that just suck one finger sort of the size for fish and chips.
